Running ESXi on Xeon W-1270

Hi Folks,

for a "proof of concept" of an application, i need a small infrastructure of 2 Clients-PCs an 2 Servers (Win2019 and Redhat). The budget is small an the architecture should be ease to transport. So I'm planning to use Laptops as Clients and a Dell Precision 3440 SFF for the Host of the 2 Server VMs using ESXi 7.0. The Precision 3440 uses one Intel® Xeon® W-1270, 64GB RAM and a 1 TB M.2 NVMe SSD.  The Intel® Xeon® W-1270 Prozessor isn't listed in the Hardware Compatobility LIst.

So my question is: can i use this Hardware to install ESX? Worst case is, that I bought the Hardware an the install routine stopt with an error like "incompatible CPU" and I have to explain my boss, that we have to buy new Hardware.

Greetings and thanks.

Mathew
